Originally, from Manitoba, Sandra successfully showed horses for “Westmead Farms” owned by the Late, Hon. James Richardson, as well as horses owned by Aramis Arabians, owned by Wayne Newton of Las Vegas, Nevada. In the winter of 1998, she moved to Alberta to work for Zimmerman Equine Service. Since her arrival here, Sandra’s business has grown considerably.
Over the years, Sandra has attained several achievements, including training the Manitoba Horses of the Years, being named the Provincial Western Coach of the Year for 3 consecutive years, and being nominated for Canadian National Coach, not once but twice. She has received Provincial Championships in Every division and has also gathered numerous Western Canadian Championships in Dressage, Sport horse – in-hand, sport horse under saddle. As well as numerous Top awards nationally. Year after year her students have also obtained Provincial, Regional and National and international awards.
Therapeutic riding has been a passion for Sandra for many years. She is a certified therapeutic riding instructor and was the chief instructor in Manitoba for 15 years. As a result, she has traveled to many cities in Western Canada and North Western Ontario to give clinics to Therapeutic Riding programs and was instrumental on setting up five programs in those areas. She also stood on the National examining committee for C.A.N.T.R.A
SANDRA FENSTAD – SANCHE, is the owner, trainer and coach for SANCHE PERFORMANCE HORSES. She is the trainer and coach at THE EQUINE ACADEMY, in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta. She has been a certified coach with Equestrian Canada for over 35 years, as well as a carded EC judge and certified instructor for therapeutic riding.
Sandra has been a trainer in all disciplines on more breeds that she cares to even admit to! Currently, she is the assistant coach for SADDLESEAT CANADA’S WORLD CUP EQUITATION TEAM. She has had horses and students competing at Spruce Meadows, Canadian Arabian Nationals, US sport horse nationals, Morgan Grand National and World Championship show, Andilusian Nationals, just to name a few. With students winning at the National and World levels.
Under the banner of “Sanche Performance Horses”, Sandra maintains a busy schedule of training and showing of all types of breeds and disciplines that include Arabians, Morgans, Saddlebreds and Hackney ponies. Her large amateur owner and recreational lesson program include Hunter, Jumper, dressage, western, English pleasure, saddle seat, western pleasure and pleasure driving. Sandra’s students can be found competing in these classes locally, provincially, nationally and inter-nationaly.
